J. David LewisAbout J. David Lewis:
After an undergraduate Banking Degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville Finance Department (1970), I worked for a community bank in New Tazewell, Tennessee. In those nine years, I attended banking schools where I was among the youngest, representing one of the smallest banks. I completed the University of Tennessee Executive Development Program shortly before working on my Masters of Business Administration (1982). After banking and financial planning related jobs, I founded Resource Advisory Services in 1985 to practice the profession as a fiduciary, using the Fee-Only compensation model. We do not want compensation from anyone other than our clients to influence our recommendations.
The founding members of NAPFA were my inspiration for launching Resource Advisory Services. I became a member as quickly as practical (1986). Through the years since, I have immersed myself in the NAPFA culture and educational opportunities,
as well as explored many related educational opportunities outside NAPFA. In 2013, I was selected for a term on the NAPFA National Board of Directors, which will extend to September 2016.
I am married to Christie N. Lewis, who is Office Manager/Client Services at Resource Advisory Services. We live in Farragut, Tennessee. Children and grandchildren are very important parts of our life. We are members of Concord United Methodist Church. I serve on the Boards of Directors for Foothills Land Conservancy and National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. My six years on the board of WUOT 91.9 FM - Knoxville's NPR affiliate - ends with the year 2013.Serious amateur photography is my dominate hobby, which has inspired considerable travel through the years.
